The term 'bogan'

Some people were wondering where the aussie term 'bogan' came from. Well, there is a bogan shire & river in the west of NSW, but it's not related. It is also pure coincidence that Bogan is an Irish surname. For the answer to this lingistic riddle, click on the title of this post.

One of the best songs about bogans would have to be TISM's "The Fosters Car Park Boogie", on their 1988 album Great Truckin' Songs of the Renaissance. If your interested, I'm sure Shaun has a copy.

Excellent Leah and welcome to the blog. Do you know how one can subscribe to BOGUE magazine? That's a classic...

the song "nobody likes a bogan" by Area 7 is also very informative about the characteristics of bogans:

(also a favourite song of mine)
